While new entrants to the marketplace continually drive change, at MRED, we believe that MLS providers are a vital part of making the market work. As guardians of MLS data, we regularly pioneer cutting-edge tools to keep real estate professionals at the top of their industry. To assist us with this, we are seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our team.

Midwest Real Estate Data (MRED) is the innovative MLS that provides real estate professionals in Chicagoland and the surrounding Midwest area with the most comprehensive database, technology, and support to enable their success. MRED is one of the largest MLSs in the country, a recipient of numerous awards, and highly recognized as an industry leader. MRED delivers dozens of services to its customers, including building more and more of its own internal products.

Who You Are…

As a Technical Project Manager, you have a passion for technology, data-driven decision-making, and delivering impactful solutions. You have 3–5 years of agile project management experience and are eager to grow in a role where you can work closely with engineers, designers, and stakeholders to shape our products. You have a technical background, understand software development processes, and can translate business needs into clear product requirements.

This role will be instrumental in defining, prioritizing, and managing the development of our MLS infrastructure and data products. Your initial projects will include managing feature development for our single sign on dashboard, product marketplace, and integrated billing automation system; enhancements for our proprietary analytics dashboards; and ensuring our internal and external tools deliver value to our users.

Our team operates remotely, and we value flexibility, autonomy, and collaboration. You will be expected to participate in team meetings and discussions to foster cross-functional alignment and drive product success.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project Ownership: Define and prioritize the project roadmap in collaboration with leadership and development teams
  • Requirements Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders, including engineers, customers, and business leaders, to identify project needs and translate them into detailed user stories and technical specifications
  • Backlog Management: Maintain and refine the project backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives and development capacity
  • Technical Understanding: Collaborate with engineers to assess feasibility, understand technical constraints, and make informed trade-offs, while also creating and maintaining technical documentation throughout the process
  • Data & Analytics: Define key success metrics, analyze product performance, and use data to inform decisions
  • Market & User Research: Conduct research on industry trends, competitor solutions, and customer needs to drive product strategy
  • Project Coordination: Ensure smooth execution of development cycles by communicating progress, risks, and blockers to stakeholders
  • Quality & Testing Support: Work with QA teams to validate features, conduct user acceptance testing, and ensure a high-quality release process

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in project management, business analysis, or a technical role with product exposure
  • Understanding of software development principles and experience working with engineering teams
  • Ability to create clear user stories and wireframes
  • Experience with drafting and modifying technical documentation
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Monday.com, and similar project management tools
  • Familiarity with Figma and similar wireframing tools is a plus
  • Familiarity with AWS, SQL, Python, and React is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to drive product decisions
  • Experience in the real estate technology space, MLS systems, or data-intensive products is a plus but not required
